Adventurous fun with kids in Bali

While Bali is an excellent place to lounge and relax if you need a break from lazing around the pool, here are some activities that will boost your adrenaline. 

Waterbom

An endlessly exciting institution of fun, Waterbom is a massive water park with slides galore and attractions for all ages. A whole area is designed with young children in mind, featuring water cannons, slides, wheels, ropes, and buckets of fun.

For thrill-seekers and older children, Waterbom offers a variety of fast slides.  Of course, there are also gentler rides so that everyone will have a favorite.  Waterbom is a sure winner.

Snorkeling Trips

Snorkeling is one of the best ways to spend a wonderful day in Bali with your kids. For the best sites on the island, head to Menjangan National Park. The water is warm, the guides are friendly, and the boat trip is part of the beautiful adventure.

Colorful fish and coral will delight the eyes and spirit; an underwater encounter with Nemo is almost guaranteed. Lunch is usually provided, served either on the boat or on a small sandy beach in the National Park. Don't miss it.

River Rafting

The Ayung River in Ubud cuts through stunning jungle scenery and makes for an unforgettable ride on the rapids. While exciting, the rapids are mild, making the trip suitable for the whole family.

ATV Tours in Bali

ATV stands for All-Terrain Vehicles and boy, do they mean it! These fun vehicles can tackle the jungle, the beach, or the river banks.

Surfing and Bodyboarding

Bali is a world-famous surfers paradise, offering both beginners and experts reliable waves. Famous Kuta beach has a very relaxed wave. More advanced surfers can head to Jimbaran, Canggu, or Balian for bigger water. 

If surfing is too much, bodyboarding is an easier and more accessible option. There's so much fun to be had in the waves!

If adrenaline is not your thing, but you still desire a change of scene, Bali offers many chill activities and excursions you can do with kids. Here is a list of some family favorites.

Bicycling in Sanur

Sanur, with its long sandy beaches and easy-to-swim waters, is a very kid-friendly area.  A long bike path runs alongside the beach, and renting bicycles here is easy and fun.

Whenever you feel like a break, you can stop in one of the many restaurants and cafés that dot the beach. Sanur is an ideal family day out: easy, relaxed, and convenient.

Releasing Baby Turtles

Imagine holding a baby turtle in your hand. You can help it along on the beach until it finally swims out into the big blue sea. This emotional and lovely activity is available in select locations in Bali.

Ask for help from your concierge or villa manager, and add releasing baby turtles to your list of beautiful things to do in Bali with kids. Releasing turtles is a seasonal activity, best enjoyed between April and October.

Bali Bird Park

This expansive park in the Gianyar province displays over a thousand birds including hundreds of different species. Bali Bird Park features diverse habitats, making the landscape feel varied and exotic.

An air-conditioned 4D theatre offers a break from the heat, and there are various live avian shows to admire the birds in action.

Head to Pirate’s Bay

This quaint restaurant/café on the beach includes a pirate-themed boat, treehouse, and playground. What more do kids need? Adults will also enjoy a well-deserved break.

Pirate's Bay is located in Nusa Dua, home to many luxury hotel chains. This area is an oasis of manicured gardens and peace. Let the kids explore on their own, or book an organized Treasure Hunt for them. If you feel playful, they even have one for the grown-ups.

Visit Bali Butterfly Park

Do your little ones enjoy “The Very Hungry Caterpillar?” Here, kids can witness the life cycle of a butterfly in a natural setting. Bali Butterfly Park is an excellent stop for a half day. The park is a favorite local attraction and not too big, making it perfect for a shorter excursion you can combine with others in the area.

In the park, kids will discover moths, pupas, caterpillars, and some giant stick insects that children are allowed to handle, should they dare. 

Bali Safari and Marine Park

This marquis attraction offers it all:  safari rides, exciting animal sightings, live shows, and even a water park! The Bali Safari and Marine Park is home to an incredible variety of animals, including hippos, tigers, and komodo dragons.

The park also features a safari-style hotel and scenic restaurant.

 

Rain Or Shine Fun

Even though Bali is always blessed with warm weather, rainy days are frequent. Here are some additional activities you can enjoy, rain or shine. 

The Sacred Monkey Forest

Don't miss the Sacred Monkey Forest, an authentic temple in Ubud home to hundreds of monkeys.  You will observe lively monkeys as they run, eat, quibble, and jump around the trees in a historic temple setting.

However, take good care of your hat and glasses. The naughty monkeys may try to steal them to barter for treats.  

Take a Batik Class

There is no shortage of options for kids' activities in Bali! Learn the ancient art of batik printing, experimenting with different colors and traditional fabric. A batik class is a special and relaxing activity during which you will create a unique souvenir. 

Relax Together at the Spa

Bali is famous for Spa treatments, available in a wide variety of price ranges. Book a mani-pedi for the little ones, and possibly have your own treatment in an adjoining room.

Explore Warungs - Local Restaurants

Bali's local street food and small restaurants will delight the children. Famous Indonesian fried chicken, colorful freshly-squeezed juices, chicken skewers with peanut sauce, fried bananas and fresh coconut are some of the local specialties, but there are many more to discover.
